Solution in the spotlight: Crate ID Solutions

Many well-known retail chains use collapsible folding crates for fruits and vegetables. The grower simply stacks the fresh produce inside the foldable crates, which then follow the entire logistic trajectory into the store shelves. The crates then return to the folding crate manager, who cleans them for reuse. For each retailer, thousands of crates leave for the stores and are collected again afterwards.

To avoid time-consuming manual counting and crediting errors, VistaLink developed a fully automatic solution for retailers and logistic service companies that recognizes and counts the crates with cameras and image processing software, even on a pallet in their collapsed state. VistaLink can integrate Crate ID solutions in any conceivable way and for any type of crate. An example of this system’s implementation is the automated recognition, control and counting of beer crates.
